Project: KMC Corporate Office Location: Hyderabad Architect: RMA Architects Published in Domus India, March 2014

This is exciting. Rob and I got our copy (plus two for the family) and I was literally jumping at the bookstore. Lots of sleep was lost on this shoot but that’s what you have to do to catch that kind of magical light casting whimsical shadows and have your image featured on the COVER of Domus!!!!!!

Such a great project, so grateful for the opportunity to shoot it!

We got mail yesterday! Rob’s grandma (we call her Grandma Beach) loves sending us packages and this one is full of yummies. Lots and lots of chocolate which isn’t necessarily the best news for us because when there’s chocolate loaded in the fridge, there’s no stopping us. It’s a good thing I like to bake and there are people around who can help consume what I bake!

Last night, as I lay in bed trying to get to sleep and trying to quieten my thoughts, something dawned on me… “Oh no, I love this life, I love this apartment, I’ve actually become attached to it and can’t imagine living somewhere else and it’s going to be so hard eventually when we have to move.”

It’s a funny thing, life. You wouldn’t believe how many tears I shed agonising about living in Bombay before we got married, and on our honeymoon and even after we got married. And now here I am all HOW CAN I EVER LEAVE THIS PLACE?!

Of course there are still hard days and I don’t doubt that there will be more in the future but right now, in this process of not just accepting but embracing this period, this city, this country of mine that I love-hate, I’m OK. It’ll be OK.

That is my current state. They are doing some major repair work in our building and it’s noisy and I’m not allowed to use our toilet or bathroom and “aaj ke liye adjust karlo” so I must go and wander the streets. Or maybe get some of those things done that I have been procrastinating on for months now – like getting a Mumbai phone-number. Blah.

This weekend I shot a wedding with the madly talented Mark Swaroop. The wedding was in Juhu and I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the beach is (at least in some parts). It’s actually a place that one could go and hang out, or walk, or make a sand-castle… It’s easy to forget that we live so close to the ocean in Bombay. It’s actually a 5-minute walk from our apartment and I haven’t been down there even once. Maybe that’s another thing I’ll do today. Maybe I’ll even take some pictures. Who can tell?
